I Had the Honor of Publishing in Homeopathy Today
I’m thrilled to share that my article, “The Child Behind the Diagnosis: Discover a Whole-Person Approach to ADHD,” was published in the Fall 2026 issue of Homeopathy Today magazine, the official publication of the National Center for Homeopathy.
In that article, I share three detailed case studies showing why no single ADHD diagnosis can fully describe a child’s unique needs, and how each child required a completely different homeopathic remedy based on their whole-person picture.

Below, I’m sharing some of the key insights from that article, along with what I’ve learned from my years of working with ADHD cases. Whether you’re reading this as someone new to homeopathy or someone exploring a whole-person approach to ADHD, I hope this perspective shifts how you think about diagnosis and healing.
The Question That Changed How I Work with ADHD
After years of working with children and adults living with ADHD and more recently with their parents, I’ve come to realize one crucial truth:
A diagnosis tells you what a child has. It doesn’t tell you who they are.
Every week, I meet parents who feel like they’re missing something. They have their child’s ADHD diagnosis in hand, yet they’re still asking: “But why does my child respond this way? Why don’t the standard approaches work for my child? What will actually help my child thrive?”
These aren’t bad questions. They’re the right questions. And they’re the reason I’m passionate about a different approach to ADHD, one that looks beyond the label to see the whole child.
What I’ve Learned from Thousands of ADHD Cases
I’ve worked with countless families navigating ADHD, and here’s what I know for certain: No two ADHD cases are alike.
You might have two children, both with the same ADHD diagnosis, who experience their condition in completely different ways. One child might struggle with attention during boring tasks but hyperfocus for hours on something that interests them. Another might wrestle with emotional outbursts so intense that a simple request triggers an hour-long meltdown. A third might appear perfectly composed at school but fall apart at home, finally releasing all the energy they’ve been holding in all day.
The diagnosis is the same. The children are not.
This is exactly what I explored in my recent article published in Homeopathy Today, titled “The Child Behind the Diagnosis: Discover a Whole Child Approach to ADHD.” In that piece, I share three real cases, Peter, Jenny, and Emily, all diagnosed with ADHD, yet each with a completely different picture of how ADHD shows up in their lives.
Three Children, One Diagnosis, Three Completely Different Cases
In the full article, I share three cases: Peter, a teenager whose attention only worked when he was engaged. Jenny, a young child whose emotions erupted instantly between feeling and reacting. And Emily, a teen who masked her struggles at school but exploded at home due to accumulated hurt feelings.
Same ADHD diagnosis. Three entirely different presentations. And this is where most standard approaches fail.
Why You Can’t Use the Same Remedy for Different ADHD
This is one of the most important things parents need to understand: a homeopathic remedy is not a one-size-fits-all solution for ADHD.
When I work with these three cases, each child needed a completely different remedy. Not because one remedy was “better” than another, but because each child’s unique constitution, emotional pattern, and behavioral expression was different.
Think about it this way. Peter’s challenge was about sustaining focus in unstimulating situations. His remedy needed to support his ability to direct and maintain attention through repetitive or boring tasks. Jenny’s challenge was emotional regulation in the moment. Her remedy needed to address the space between impulse and action, helping her pause before reacting. Emily’s challenge was processing and releasing accumulated emotional hurt. Her remedy needed to support her ability to feel and express emotions rather than suppress them.
The diagnosis was the same. The remedies could not have been more different.
This is why a parent might read, “Homeopathy for ADHD” and think there’s one answer. There isn’t. There’s the answer for your child, based on who they are, how their nervous system works, what their emotional patterns are, and what their unique situation calls for.
Different Family Circumstances, Different Support Needs
What I’ve also learned is that ADHD doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Each child exists within a family system, a school environment, a social context, and a cultural framework that shapes how their ADHD shows up and what kinds of support they need most.
Peter’s family needed support around academic performance and motivation. His parents wanted to understand why he could hyperfocus on sports but drift during tests. They needed strategies for making schoolwork more engaging while his homeopathic remedy helped him develop better attention regulation.
Jenny’s family was overwhelmed by her emotional intensity and behavioral outbursts. The focus was on reducing the frequency and intensity of meltdowns while maintaining her naturally joyful, playful nature. Her parents needed reassurance that her emotional responsiveness wasn’t a character flaw but a constitutional tendency that could be supported.
Emily’s family was confused because she seemed fine at school but struggled at home. They were wondering if something was wrong with their parenting, or if Emily was deliberately acting out at home while controlling herself elsewhere. Understanding that she was masking her struggles as a coping mechanism, and that her explosive episodes were the release of pent-up stress, completely shifted how her parents approached her.
Same diagnosis. Different family needs. Different support strategies.
This is why the whole-person approach to ADHD matters so deeply. You can’t just consider ADHD in isolation. You have to understand the child within their family, their school, their culture, and their daily life.
The Emergence of Strengths: What Actually Changes in Healing
One of the things I love most about working with homeopathy is that healing isn’t just about symptom reduction. It’s about the emergence of strengths and the full expression of who the child actually is.
When Peter’s remedy began working, it wasn’t just that his test scores improved (though they did). It was that he developed a genuine interest in his schoolwork and the satisfaction of completing tasks. His parents noticed he was initiating homework, asking questions, and showing curiosity. The remedy didn’t change Peter’s natural preference for engagement and connection. It gave him the ability to find engagement even in less stimulating tasks.
When Jenny’s remedy began working, she didn’t become a different child. She remained joyful, playful, imaginative, and affectionate. What changed was her ability to pause. She could feel her frustration and make a choice about how to respond instead of erupting instantly. She began helping around the house because she could regulate herself enough to complete tasks. Her wonderful personality finally had space to shine without being overwhelmed by her emotional reactivity.
When Emily’s remedy began working, she didn’t become unemotional or compliant. She became comfortable in her own skin. She smiled more easily. She engaged openly in conversation. She appeared comfortable being herself. Her strong feelings were still there, but they flowed naturally rather than accumulating until they exploded. Her parents finally felt like they were seeing their daughter.
This is the real measure of healing. Not just fewer symptoms, but the emergence of the child’s natural gifts, strengths, and personality. The whole-person approach to ADHD
In the full article, I explore each of these cases in depth, showing exactly how the homeopathic approach differs from other ADHD interventions. You’ll see how understanding the child behind the diagnosis opens the door to healing that honors who they actually are.

This whole child approach is how I determine whether constitutional homeopathic care is the right fit for your family and what support might help your child thrive.
The Key Insight: Same Diagnosis, Different Remedies
Here’s what made me most passionate about sharing these three cases: Peter, Jenny, and Emily all have ADHD diagnoses. Yet each needed a completely different homeopathic remedy because each child is unique.
Peter needed a remedy that could help him sustain attention when engagement faded. Jenny needed support for emotional regulation and the ability to pause between feeling and reacting. Emily needed help processing hurt feelings and releasing emotional tension in healthier ways.
The diagnosis was the same. The children were not. And neither were their remedies.
This Is What “Whole-person Approach to ADHD” Really Means
When I work with families, whether it’s a child with ADHD or an adult navigating their own challenges, I’m not just looking at the diagnosis. I’m looking at the whole person.
This means I consider:
- Their personality and temperament. Are they naturally outgoing or reserved? Sensitive or resilient?
- How they experience emotions. Do they feel things intensely? Do they suppress emotions? Do they react immediately or accumulate feelings?
- Their specific triggers. What situations make their ADHD symptoms worse? What helps them thrive?
- Their physical health. How do they sleep? How do they respond to certain foods? Do they have other physical symptoms?
- Their environment and culture. What’s their school situation? Their family dynamic? Their socioeconomic circumstances?
- Their unique strengths and challenges. What are they naturally good at? Where do they struggle most?
This whole child lens is exactly what homeopathy has embraced since its beginning. Rather than asking, “What remedy is used for ADHD?” a homeopathic practitioner asks, “Who is this child?”
I’ve worked with adults who come to me with ADHD diagnoses made decades after their childhood. I’ve seen how their unique personalities, sensitivities, emotional patterns, and life circumstances shaped how their ADHD showed up over the years. And I’ve seen how supporting the whole person, not just the diagnosis, creates the most meaningful healing.
Why One Size Fits All Approaches Miss the Mark
Here’s what concerns me about many standard ADHD approaches. They treat the diagnosis, they do not heal the person.
Parents are often told, “Your child has ADHD. Here’s what we recommend.” They might hear about medication, behavioral therapy, nutrition changes, or mindfulness practices. These can all be helpful. But if they don’t account for who your child actually is, their unique sensitivities, emotional needs, physical constitution, and life circumstances, they’re addressing symptoms without honoring the whole child.
Your child deserves an approach that sees them. Not just their diagnosis. Not just their symptoms. But them.
What Makes the Difference in Healing
Over my years working with families, I’ve seen that the most meaningful healing happens when we shift from asking, “What is the answer for ADHD?” to asking, “What combination of supports will help this unique child thrive?”
That shift changes everything.
It means:
- Recognizing that your child’s ADHD looks different from someone else’s
- Understanding that what works for another child might not work for yours
- Honoring your child’s unique personality, sensitivities, and strengths
- Supporting not just attention or behavior, but emotional regulation, physical health, family dynamics, and overall wellbeing
- Working with practitioners who see your child as a whole person, not a diagnosis
Seeing the Child Behind the Diagnosis
If you’re a parent of a child with ADHD, you already know this intuitively. You know that your child isn’t just their diagnosis. You’ve probably noticed that they show up differently in different situations. You’ve seen them hyperfocus on something that interests them. You’ve watched them struggle with emotional regulation even when they understand the material. You’ve realized that what works for your friend’s child doesn’t work for yours.
You’re right. Your instinct is correct.
That’s exactly why I wrote the article I’m sharing with you today. “The Child Behind the Diagnosis: Discover a Whole Child Approach to ADHD” explores these three real cases, Peter, Jenny, and Emily, and shows what happens when we shift from asking about the diagnosis to asking about the child.
Each of these young people needed something different. Each of them responded to a different remedy. And each of them experienced healing that honored who they were, not just what they were diagnosed with.

Questions Parents Ask Me
Q: What will I actually notice changing in my child after homeopathic care?
A: Parents often tell me the most meaningful changes aren’t just about reduced symptoms. Yes, attention improves, emotional outbursts become less frequent, homework battles ease. But what moves parents most is seeing their child come alive. They notice their child’s natural gifts and personality finally shining through. A child who was constantly overwhelmed becomes calm and present. A child who was struggling emotionally develops the ability to pause and respond instead of react. A child who was masking their struggles finally feels comfortable being themselves. The remedy doesn’t change who your child is. It supports them in becoming more fully who they’ve always been. Parents tell me, “I finally feel like I’m seeing my child again.”
Q: Can homeopathy help adults with ADHD, or is it just for children?
A: Absolutely, homeopathy works beautifully for adults with ADHD. In fact, I work with many adults who received their ADHD diagnosis late in life, or who are seeking alternatives to medication they’ve been taking for years. The whole-person approach to ADHD becomes the whole person approach for adults. I listen to how ADHD shows up uniquely in your life, your work challenges, your relationships, how you manage emotions and time, your physical health patterns, your personality and temperament. Many adults discover that constitutional homeopathic care not only addresses attention and focus, but also helps with the anxiety, emotional sensitivity, or overwhelm that often accompanies ADHD. Just like with children, the goal is supporting you in becoming your most capable, authentic self without medication side effects or personality suppression. Many of my adult clients tell me they finally understand themselves better and can thrive in ways they thought weren’t possible.
Q: How do I know if my child would benefit from homeopathic care?
A: If you’re noticing that standard approaches aren’t fully addressing your child’s needs, or if you sense there’s something more to understand about your child’s unique constitution and circumstances, homeopathic constitutional care might be worth exploring. A consultation can help you determine if it’s a good fit for your family.
Q: How do I schedule a consultation with you?
A: I’d love to hear about your child’s unique story. You can book a consultation here. During our first consultation, I listen carefully to understand your child’s full picture including their personality, sensitivities, emotional patterns, physical health, and family situation, so we can determine together if constitutional homeopathic care is the right fit for your family.
